1. No guarantee
Registration does not guarantee work, earnings, availability of a driver, response times, successful delivery, repeat business or any minimum level of service.
2. Road and vehicle risk
Driving and riding involve risk of collision, injury, theft, weather exposure, penalties and vehicle damage. Drivers must make their own safe decision about every route and must not accept instructions that would require unsafe or unlawful conduct.
3. Insurance and legal compliance
Ordinary social, domestic and pleasure insurance may not cover paid delivery work. Drivers must confirm that they have all cover required for the actual activity. Takeaways should not assume insurance exists merely because a driver is registered or introduced.
4. Food and order handling
The takeaway remains responsible for food preparation, packaging, allergen and food-safety obligations within its control. Drivers are responsible for reasonable care of items while in their possession and for using suitable equipment where agreed.
5. Personal safety
Both parties should consider lone working, cash, aggressive behaviour, dangerous locations, late-night working and safeguarding. Contact emergency services where there is immediate danger; TakeawayDriver is not an emergency service.
6. Commercial and payment risk
Drivers and takeaways currently agree and settle payment directly. TakeawayDriver does not hold payment or guarantee that either party will pay, attend or perform. Parties should confirm price, timing, cancellation and evidence of completed work before starting.
7. Employment and tax risk
Calling a driver independent does not by itself determine legal status. Status depends on the real arrangement. Drivers and businesses are responsible for tax, National Insurance, employment-rights and intermediary obligations that apply to them.
8. Information and verification risk
Profiles, documents and statements may be incomplete, outdated or false. Verification reduces some risk but cannot eliminate it. Report concerns promptly and do not proceed where you are not satisfied.
9. Platform risk
Technology can fail, messages can be delayed and location or postcode matching may be inaccurate. Maintain an appropriate backup process for time-critical operations.
